Alex has been a psychotherapist for twenty years. After completing a degree in Psychology, he trained at the Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies (IPSS) and lectured in Psychology at Middlesex University specialising in Child and Adolescent Development. Prior to this he worked in industry with particular emphasis on Stress Management and Human Resources. He also gained considerable experience in the public sector in youth and community work. Alex trains and supervises psychotherapists and for ten years was a joint Course Director for the MA / Diploma Course in Psychotherapy at IPSS and Vice-Chair of the Training Committee.
In private practice Alex works as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with individuals, couples and families. His approach is to offer a gentle, supportive and reflective space in which, over time, the client will feel enabled to explore and gain deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships with others. He has a particular interest in the possible links between organic illness and emotional distress.
Alex is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, an Honorary Life Member of the Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies and a Member of the College of Psychoanalysts - UK.
